Hordes of people headed to the seaside as temperatures soared to 80F yet again.

Beaches in Bournemouth, Brighton, Devon and Cornwall were among those packed while crowds swarmed to beauty spots across the UK.

The huge weekday crowds were bolstered by 11 million people with taxpayer-funded jobs furloughed in the coronavirus crisis.

The Met Office reported highs of 80F (27C) at Gosport in Hampshire as the record-breaking sunshine continued.

This was just shy of this year’s current record of 83F in Santon Downham, Suffolk on May 20.
