The Duke of York is at loggerheads with federal prosecutors over the conditions under which he will give evidence about his friendship with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew is worried about being caught up in a “fishing expedition” by the US authorities in their investigations into people who might have been involved in a sex trafficking ring abusing young women, including underage girls, procured by the late billionaire paedophile.
Advisers to Andrew, 60, issued a statement yesterday saying he had offered to speak to the federal prosecutors three times already this year on condition that the co-operation was treated as confidential.
But US attorney Geoffrey Berman, who is leading the investigation into Epstein, said the Duke has “yet again sought to falsely portray himself to the public as eager and willing to co-operate” although he “has repeatedly declined” requests to schedule an interview.
