In a powerful and emotional statement on the steps of the court at the end of a three-week libel hearing, she held her hand to her heart and said she just “wanted to move on with my life”.
Flanked by supporters, including sister Whitney, she said: “It has been incredibly painful to relive the break-up of my relationship, have my motives and my truth questioned, and the most traumatic and intimate details of my life with Johnny shared in court and broadcast around the world.
“I stand by my testimony and I now place my faith in British justice.”
Her comments followed the final day of the libel action by her former husband Johnny Depp, which had seen his legal team brand her a “compulsive liar”. The Hollywood actor brought the action against the Sun newspaper for labeling him a “wife-beater”.
His barrister David Sherborne claimed Ms. Heard was the violent one in the relationship and described her evidence during the three-week trial as “shifting and inconsistent”.
