With little to choose between the teams in a tight first half, the Students blitzed their visitors early in the second 40 and held on for a valuable win.
And while head coach Gerard Mullen was pleased to get five points, he warned that more consistency is required moving forward.
“It was a decent performance during a difficult time of the year for the lads during exams,” said Mullen.
“However, we made life a bit too easy for Sheffield, with the level of turnovers and penalties conceded. It was great to get the win but we need to improve during the coming weeks.”
Students started with a persistent attacking effort, cutting though Sheffield’s defence, and after several near misses it was Will Kaye who opened the scoring – dotting down to the right of the posts.
