POOLS GOING IN AT THE DEEP END
Challinor aiming to be in the mix – but only on merit
David Richardson

DAVE Challinor hopes the National League’s winners and losers will be decided on footballing merit rather than good fortune – and reckons his Hartlepool United are heading in the right direction.

More clubs and fixtures are being affected by postponements as coronavirus cases continue to rise, something Pools experienced for themselves last weekend.

They had already travelled south when their game at Barnet was called off on Friday evening due to a positive test in the Bees camp.

Challinor took the positives from the blank weekend, which gave his side a well-earned rest after winning three and drawing one of their opening four games, but he wants the football to do the talking as usual this year.
