DAVE Challinor hopes the National League’s winners and losers will be decided on footballing merit rather than good fortune – and reckons his Hartlepool United are heading in the right direction.

They had already travelled south when their game at Barnet was called off on Friday evening due to a positive test in the Bees camp.
Challinor took the positives from the blank weekend, which gave his side a well-earned rest after winning three and drawing one of their opening four games, but he wants the football to do the talking as usual this year.
