The latter was declared unfit before kick-off, but Nevitt went on to open the scoring and set up the visitors’ second goal for Gerald Kinsella before Jack Hazelhurst wrapped up matters, as Craig Robinson’s men kicked off the new campaign in style.
Manager Robinson was understandably full of praise for his team after the game, saying: “Considering we haven’t played for six months that was as good as I could have hoped for. We knew it was going to be difficult because Glossop are a tough side who don’t give you much time on the ball.
“They’re physical and strong but we stood tall and my players to a man were outstanding.”
