Ardley was left frustrated as his side twice squandered the lead and were eventually deservedly beaten by Alan Devonshire’s hard-working side.

The affected players have not been named but notable omissions from the home side’s squad included strikers Wes Thomas and Callum Roberts and midfielder Jim O’Brien.

“We did what we felt was the right thing to do. We had a ‘bubble’ who were unaffected and we wanted to fulfill the fixture,” Ardley said. “If we start cancelling games now, we’ll be cancelling left, right and centre. If we pulled out now, what would happen to next Saturday’s FA Cup tie (at King’s Lynn Town)? We’d be in danger of not fulfilling that tie.”
