“It could have been 5-4 either way,” admitted Gills boss Evans. “I’m not sitting here thinking we’ve played Oxford off the pitch and we’ve won 3-1.
“But we had to find a way to win and I can’t ask for any more from a team of 20-year olds. They came together and showed desire, fight and spirit to win.
