No-Exit Street

History always repeats on Coro St, even if some characters seem never to age.

Diana Wichtel

Chaos on t’cobbles. I haven’t really been keeping up with Coronation Street since the Great Leap Forward of June 2018, when the whole sudsy circus catapulted 18 months into the future so New Zealand viewers could finally catch up with the UK. No need now to avoid accidental online exposure to the sort of British publications in which “Corrie fans left furious as Gary cheats on Sarah” counts as breaking news. These days, we can find out answers to the big questions – did Tracy Barlow push her stepfather, Ken, down the stairs in a shameless replay of that time David Platt pushed his mother Gail down the stairs? Will everyone in Weatherfield, including Eccles the Barlow border terrier, end up banged up in prison? – in a timely fashion.
