A Serious Interview with Tattoo Collector and Comedian
Dan Lorenzo
Rich Vos
A product of Plainfield, NJ Rich Vos has been doing stand-up comedy since 1984. In his early twenties Vos was addicted to drugs, but he’s now been clean for over thirty years. Vos received national attention on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, making it to the finals in 2003. He is a regular on Sirius/XM and will soon be touring with Jim Florentine, Robert Kelly and Ron Bennington as Kreeps With Kids. He has a popular podcast with his wife (Comedienne Bonnie McFarlane) called My Wife Hates Me. Vos is my favorite stand-up comedian because of his ability to improvise for long periods of time during his shows. I spoke with Vos as he drove into Manhattan.

Dan Lorenzo: When did you get your first tattoo?

Rich Vos: I think I was nineteen. I got TKD when I did Taekwondo. Then I got a little star with a rainbow under it. I have more fucking cover-ups than a politician.

DL: How many tattoos total do you have?

RV: I don’t know..probably thirty.

DL: What’s your favorite?

RV: I have three hearts with all of my daughter’s names in them.

DL: One of the things I just read about you that fascinated me was that you got “clean” after just a month in rehab.
