About four years ago, I believed the idea that you must allow a muscle to fully recover before you train it again, and you certainly had to wait until all soreness from the previous workout had abated. I trained like that for years, yet still didn’t see the development I wanted to. This was especially perplexing because I had gotten much stronger in certain muscle groups, yet they hadn’t grown. I was getting plenty of sleep and backing it up with proper nutrition. There was no doubt my muscles were recovering. So why weren’t they growing like they were supposed to?
