There is a story about the leader of a travelling community who lived in hope of a great future for himself, his children and his children’s children.
God promised to prosper them and provide them with land where they would be able to settle and call home. They came very close to finding the perfect place on one occasion, but spies warned that ‘there were giants in the land’, and so the leader hesitated.
When he died, the leader’s deputy was put in charge and he sent his own spies into the land to check its safety. In contrast to the previous reports, the spies concluded that the land was indeed highly prosperous and the community could make their home there. In their assessment, the current dwellers were full of fear and could be overcome. So with that in mind the leader entered the promised prosperous land and conquered its historic dwellers.
