The Mahastupa, at the Buddhist site of Thotlakonda, collapsed partially, marking a black day for heritage enthusiasts.

Discovered during an aerial survey in 1976 by the Indian Navy, Thotlakonda came to light as a proud testament of the Buddhist legacy in Visakhapatnam. The site was known to have accommodated over 100 monks and reflects our ancient links to Buddhism. Gaining prominence, as a remarkable heritage site over the past few years, Thotlakonda has drawn tourists from all over to occupy a prime spot on the city’s map. However, the most recent sad state of affairs at the heritage site has been bothering many.
