Tina Turner was born in Tennessee, USA. Starting as a choir singer, she soon teamed up with Ike Turner of Kings of Rhythm band as the lead singer. A string of hits followed with songs like ‘River deep Mountain high’ and ‘Nutbush city limits’. Her marriage with Ike Turner, however, turned sour and lead to a stormy divorce.
Tina then branched out on her own and her 1984 album ‘Private Dancer’ hit the jackpot and became a worldwide success. The single from the album ‘What’s love got to do with it?’ became Tina’s biggest single hit and won several awards.
Two more hits albums followed viz ‘Break every rule’ and ‘Foreign affair’. Turner has won 12 Grammy awards and was ranked number 63 on Rolling Stones list of hundred greatest artists of all time.
Now 79 years old, Tina Turner has become a citizen of Switzerland and has found increasing solace with Buddhism.
