Wellness 2.0

According to the Global Wellness Institute, the global wellness industry is a US$3.7 trillion market (2015 figures) with global wellness tourism revenues growing from US$494.1 billion in 2013 to US$563.2 billion in 2015. That is a 14 percent increase, which means a growth rate more than twice as fast as overall tourism expenditures (6.9 percent). Given the figures, we need not debate more on how important wellness has become for the global consumer with people trying out everything from intermittent fasting to eating bugs for better health.

While eating bugs might not be everyone’s cup of health elixir, the fact remains that people are always looking for new avenues to add to their well-being improvement plan. We at Signature have done a bit of research and have found a few that might be worth adding to your list this year. Whether you jump on the bandwagon or choose to sit it out, one thing is certain these trends are definitely here to stay.

Architectural Wellness

Beautiful Buildings have healing powers as well. Who knew! A growing trend in the wellness industry, architectural wellness is set turn the luxury travel sector around in 2018. Imagine holidaying in spaces that are not just stunning but they are also comfortable, functional and sustainable. Naturally, you as the guest are at the centre of this all. Everything that surrounds you is healthy, right from the building materials used to the food to the greenery that envelopes you. So, it can be a ‘healthy-for-human’ hotel or a living building that allows you to breathe fresh, feel awakened and, return from holiday rejuvenated. Wellness architecture is all about sustainability as well as luxury on healthy holidays.
