Pak Din's C & R Pay Pond

Fishing at Pak Din's pay pond has always been one of those little treasured fishing spots for me in this chaotic city we call KL. The pond owner 'Pak Din'and Uncle Pak are close acquaintance for over 20 years now. Pak Din started this pond in the 80's originally as a commercial breeding pond for Sultan Fish (Jelawat), it was also a hangout place for his friends and close acquaintances who are coincidently anglers. As the years passed on the pond got more popular and Pak Din decided to turn it into a fishing pay pond somewhere in 2005.

Now the pond is being managed by his son 'Nizam'as Pak Din being well at 80 years of age is taking it easy these days. He does however conduct free consultation to anyone with any ailments seeking help and advice for traditional healing and herbal medication. He is available at the pond from afternoon onwards till 6pm if anyone is interested to seek his counsel on such matters.

Fish stocks & the pond

The pond itself is segregated into 2 parts, the bigger pond and the smaller pond both of them combined are no more than a quarter of an acre in size. There's a further 6 acres of land filled with many fruit trees, fish breeding ponds, plants and medicinal herbs. The greenery surrounding the pond is a pleasant sight amidst the big city concrete buildings. Fish stocks are plentiful...the pond is stocked with pacu, patin, rohu, haruan and keli. All fish caught by any method has to be released back, unless it's below 2kg it can be weighed and sold according to certain rates.

One-Armed Fly Fisherman

"Simply messing...about in boats -- or with boats... In or out of 'em it doesn't matter. Nothing seems to matter, that's the charm of it. Whether you get away, or whether you don't; whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you've done it there's always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you'd much better not." - Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows.
