Montblanc reboots its Heritage and 1858 collections with an inspired colour palette and a touch of sprezzatura.

We have no doubt that the latest references within Montblanc’s Heritage line will speak to today’s stylish gents, who understand that it’s the attention to detail that makes all the difference. In this case, the design cues derived from the watches made by the Minerva manufacture during the 1940s and 1950s. Consider the Heritage Manufacture Pulsograph Limited Edition, a rose gold watch with a 40mm case housing a Minervainspired Montblanc manufacture chronograph movement, the beautiful Calibre MB M13.21. Pulsographs are often called ‘doctor’s watches’ on account of the pulsometric scale encircling the dial that’s used to calculate a person’s heart rate.

But what’s probably more interesting about this piece is the smoked tobacco-brown lacquer dial offering a range of discreet textures and old-school design features. Indeed, you’ll find several aesthetic throwbacks to the 1940s and 1950s, including the domed dial with a graine hour ring juxtaposed with sunray finishing. Another nostalgic feature are the extra-long indications of three, six and nine minutes on the chronograph minutes counter, which are inspired by old-school international payphones.
