Making A Splash
Pierpaolo Lazzarini of Lazzarini Design Studio is no stranger to bold, inventive designs, having conceptualised flying cars to a bullet-shaped hyperyacht. His latest creation, the megayacht Avanguardia, is sure to turn heads. Spanning 137m in length and replete with sleek and subtle curves, the Avanguardia’s elegant silhouette resembles that of a graceful swan. It has a beak-like cruiser perched at the top of its ‘neck’, which can be lowered and detached when the yacht is at anchor for independent cruising. Powered by twin electric side engines and a central MTU Rolls-Royce engine, the Avanguardia reaches a top speed of roughly 18 knots. It also has five separate decks that can accommodate up to 60 guests. There’s no lack of storage space and toys onboard either – a helicopter sits comfortably on the helipad at the top level, a pair of Lazzarini jet capsules are at the aft and a haul of supercars are stored amidships. Now, all that’s left is an intrepid client who’s willing to bring the Avanguardia to life.
