IWC INGENIEUR CHRONOGRAPH EDITION “RUDOLF CARACCIOLA”

IWC dedicates this 30mm automatic timepiece to racing driver Rudolf Caracciola, who was crowned European Drivers’ Champion three times in the 1930s. Equipped with Manufacture Calibre 69370, it comes with a leather strap that mirrors the quilted leather upholstery of vintage race cars. This edition further evokes the classic dashboard as the subdials adopt a dual-tone finish similar to that of instrument gauges.

ULYSSE NARDIN DIVER 42MM

The Diver is decidedly an everyday watch by Ulysse Nardin, whose portfolio consists of niche avant-garde creations such as Freak, Hourstriker Phantom and Marine Mega Yacht. The automatic model, powered by the UN-816 movement, strikes the right balance between the old and the new with a vintage-inspired mesh bracelet paired with a modern case and dial with a faux patina finish.

ZENITH CHRONOMASTER 2

Zenith chose the emblematic Chronomaster to inaugurate its new-gen El Primero 3600 calibre and to commemorate 50 years of the definitive El Primero movement. The renamed movement is capable of measuring one-tenth of a second accurately, while offering direct readings on the dial and bezel. Boasting an increased power reserve of 60 hours, the 42mm Chronomaster 2 flaunts a graduated black ceramic bezel, silver sunray-finished dial and a central red chronograph hand with a star-shaped logo as a counter balance. The watch is only sold as part of a 50-piece limited edition anniversary box set that also comprises the El Primero 1969 and Defy El Primero 21.

BREITLING NAVITIMER B01 CHRONOGRAPH 43 PAN AM EDITION

With its history rooted in aviation, Breitling pays homage to the first American international airline, Pan Am, with this 43mm model featuring a blue dial, silver chrono registers and a steel mesh bracelet. Equipped with the manufacture’s Calibre 01, this model-like its predecessor – flaunts a bidirectional rotating bezel with the circular slide rule that allowed pilots to make important calculations during the course of a flight.

HUBLOT BIG BANG STEEL

With its range of cases that span coloured ceramic to sapphire crystal, it is easy to lose sight of the fact that Hublot has stainless steel watches in its repertoire. The self-winding 44mm Big Bang Steel, with its HUB4100 chronograph movement, is one that plays to the tune of back to basics without any application of precious metals, while still retaining the strong aesthetics and spirit of the brand.

GIRARD-PERREGAUX LAUREATO CHRONOGRAPH

Four years since its reintroduction by Girard-Perregaux, the Laureato collection has gone through a series of transformations. From the automatic three-hand to the perpetual calendar and from stainless steel to carbon glass, the 38mm Laureato Chronograph with its GP03300-0135 movement is perhaps the most hypnotic to look at. This is evidenced by the concentric pattern set against the Clous de Paris motif on the “panda” dial, and the two-tier bezel of satin and mirror finishing.
