SKI RESORTS
North Lake Tahoe boasts the highest number of ski resorts in North America, each with unique features and experiences. Read about downhill skiing options starting on page 19. Squaw Valley, Northstar, Boreal and Soda Springs have fun tubing lanes as well.
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
Four outstanding cross-country ski resorts dot this region, including the nation’s largest, Royal Gorge. Tahoe XC has two trail systems, one just behind Tahoe City. Tahoe Donner’s trails go from the valley floor to the mountain peak.
SNOWSHOEING
Most cross-country resorts have trails for snowshoeing. Tahoe City Winter Sports Park and North Tahoe Regional Park have groomed trails. Look at the map on page 20 for popular locations.
