What To Expect In The First Month

The newborn days are often spent in a blissful baby bubble, full of cuddles and newborn smells. But they can also be a time of questions and concerns as you get to know your little one and work out a routine that suits you both. We spoke with midwife and Philips AVENT ambassador Liz Wilkes about what to expect in those early days and her best advice for new mums…

1 Listen to your baby

It may be tempting to search for hard and fast rules about when and for how long your baby will need to feed, but the reality is that the only rules you should be following are the ones your baby sets. In terms of feeding, most babies will naturally fall into a pattern of feeding every one to three hours, but an infant’s feeding patterns are as individual as they are. Good indicators of a well-fed baby include plenty of wet and dirty nappies and healthy weight gain.

2 MINIMISE STRESS
