NAEZY
One thing about me, is that I used to be a different person, with different friends. I had one friend I was close to, but he was in trouble. I used to bunk school, get into fights, and rob stores when I was with him. But that was never the case with Bilal. I was a different person with Bilal, and he brought out the best in me. He is the first friend I call when I need support, or want to share what’s happening in my life. I don’t trust anyone as much as I trust him. I was used to being the funny guy, but then Bilal came, and he was funnier. We became such thick friends that we were recognised as the ‘Naved and Bilal’ duo.
After becoming a known personality, I think it’s harder to form friendships. Everybody is opportunistic, and only want to be friends for a selfish reason. So, I believe my old friends are my true friends.
Movies, music videos, social media, #BFFGoals. Whether you grew up on a diet of old school college days in Xavier’s with the ’90s slogan of “pyaar dosti hai”, or you’re a boomer addicted to F.R.I.E.N.D.S, a millennial gorging on One Tree Hill, or a Gen Z with a hundred more shows and movies about lifelong friendships to access — the best friend character is someone you look at — and carefully place your BFF from your life, into that mould. Friendship, for some reason, has always been honoured, sidelined, and honoured again as you grow up. And friendship also, somehow, always becomes what you want to come back to.
