The second-generation of Audi’s extremely popular, entry-level, luxury, compact crossover is bigger, more attractive, more powerful, and it has more standard features than before. That was a good enough reason for GQ to take the new Q3 on a road trip

AUDI HIT THE SWEET SPOT IN 2011 WHEN THE Q3 EMERGED FROM GERMANY.

The midsize-crossover market is the most important segment, especially when driving dynamics are combined with a little luxury. The Bang & Olufsen sound system delivers spectacular 3D sound while I cruise smoothly on a dusty, corrugated track towards De Hoop Nature Reserve in the Overberg region of the Cape.

Globally, the Q3 has been outselling its siblings, the A1, A3 and A4, and, thus, came the time for a second-generation model to keep the momentum going. While the old one was based on the heavier PQ35 platform, the new Q3 shares its foundation and structure with the VW Tiguan.
