40 Days Of Worship

We are in the midst of 40 Days of Worship (40DoW). 24 September until 3 November 2017 is a time marked by a call for deep intimate worship of Jesus Christ and him alone. What makes this a unique expression of worship is that it is not a single program created by a single organiser nor is it being held in a single venue. Instead this is a time for all worshipers of Jesus to unite as one and create their own expressions of worship wherever and however they are led by the Holy Spirit.

Praise singing is only one aspect of worship. In the context of the 40DoW believers can be absolutely creative and spontaneous regarding acts of worship feed the poor, visit the sick, visit the prisons. Combine praise music with dance, drama, art, prayer, street ministry, mercy ministry and fellowship – all with the single purpose of glorifying Jesus. Let worship be expressed in any and every way so that the world cannot but see the love of Christ expressed through His body. The organisers hope to see believers from diverse cultures and backgrounds come together and co-labour in order to fill their neighbourhoods and public spaces with the worship of Jesus Christ.

Participants can then register this expression of worship on the official website (www.global-worship.com) calendar at no cost. Others can then log onto the website and see what events are happening and join the worship of their choice. If a venue is suitable and free for use during the 40 Days of Worship, then it can also be registered on the website and worshippers can contact the venue owners directly in order to organise a worship event. Worshippers can also volunteer to host and accommodate others who may be coming from out of town to attend the 40DoW. Therefore, this is a great time to fulfil the commandment to practice hospitality. The website also has additional articles; video resources; e-books; and brochure images for download.

A mobile app has also been launched which allows people to monitor and view the events plotted on a map of South Africa. They can also register their own event on the app and view all other information that is presented on the website. The mobile app is available for download at the Google Play Store – look for “40 Days of Worship”.

Worshippers can also create FaceBook events or follow the official Facebook page “40 Days of Global Worship”. Use the hashtag #40DoWCT to tag or follow any related social media posts. During this time, worshippers are encouraged to use all forms of social media at their disposal to urge others to enter into a deeper and more intimate worship of Jesus our Lord and Saviour. The 40DoW team will coordinate a few worship events, but the majority of the events should be spontaneous and from the heart of the Body. The 40DoW organisers are not event planners, but rather encouragers! They are merely providing a platform for believers to come together and worship as one body.
