You may or may not have heard of San Marino since it isn’t as hyped up as the Vatican city. Here’s why this mountainous microstate that’s surrounded by Italy is worth a visit.
1 It’s the perfect day-trip destination if you’re already on an Italian holiday. Tucked away between the Emilia-Romagna and Le Marche region of northeastern Italy, San Marino, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, can be reached easily by car or any of the buses that depart hourly from Rimini or Bologna. However, if you’re a fan of sunset and sunrise, we recommend staying the night.
