I have known Ruth Elkins for some time, but I’m still not sure if she has ever forgiven me for introducing her son to sugar some years ago. Back then we were talking about baby biscuits, but this time the subject was storytelling in business and Ruth’s own story. Ruth has enjoyed an incredibly varied and illustrious career in journalism and she now runs her own creative content and communications consultancy.
‘I work with stories. Stories make me tick,’ reveals the former Times news editor. ‘I’ve always been good at spotting good stories and teasing them out, editing them. I help businesses and individuals tell their best stories and build their brands — whether that’s in the media or in their own communications and creative content.’
With past and present clients ranging from at-home blood testing service Monitor My Health to Essex-based pedigree bulldog and pug breeders The Bully Ranch, Ruth has also recently finished her first co-written novel with singer Stacey Jackson – which is excitingly with a top London literary agent.
During the current pandemic she’s been helping launch Commuter Kit, a new service for businesses to provide employees with a regular supply of face masks and a 24hr-lasting hand sanitizer from New Zealand, to keep them safer traveling to and from work.
