OnePlus 8 Pro - In Tune With The Times

OnePlus has always garnered appreciation for its premium smartphones, and continuous to innovate their lineup of phones for better performance and user experience. Recently, they launched two new phones, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. Let’s see if the OnePlus 8 Pro is as promising as it seems.

A Complete Package

The OnePlus 8 Pro features a triple rear camera setup—a 48MP f/1.78 Sony IMX689 camera, a 48MP f/2.2 120° ultra-wide lens, an 8MP f/2.44 telephoto lens with 3x hybrid zoom, and a 5MP f/2.4 colour filter lens. It supports Multi Autofocus (PDAF+LAF+CAF) and dual LED flash. They have also added the face detection feature for pet photography, which is limited to cats and dogs.

The rear camera has various modes such as Panorama, Super Macro, Nightscape, Time-lapse, Portrait, Slow Motion, Video, UltraShot HDR, and a Pro mode. To use the Super Macro mode, you have to click on the flower icon in the Photo mode. The 3x zoom is not available in Portrait, Slow Motion, and Nightscape modes. Those who carry a tripod can now make 8 to 30 second long exposures in the Nightscape mode. To enable this option, just visit settings on the top right when using the camera. The colour filter lens offers four filters—Matte, Vivid, Black and White, and Photochrome. The latter produces results akin to an infrared filter.

It also features 4K and 1080p video recording at 30/60fps. There is also the option of recording 4K Cine, which enables you to shoot footage at 21:9 ratio. The Super Slow Motion option captures1080p video at 240fps, and 720p video at 480fps. For TimeLapse, the camera shoots 1080p clips and 4K footage at 30fps. There is an option to shoot videos using the HEVC codec for smaller file sizes.
