Celebrating Success
In celebration of completing 60 years in business, Photoquip partnered with ADAPT to highlight the accomplishments of four individuals who continually strove for success, despite their disabilities. Here’s the story of what transpired...

As one of the very few indigenous manufacturers, notably for lighting equipment, and the only worldwide exporter from India of photographic equipment, Photoquip has done us all proud. To the Soni family, for your vision, unwavering commitment, and for being a significant part of the lives and livelihood of thousands of photographers in India… Our heartfelt gratitude, from the Better Photography team.

In celebration of its diamond jubilee, Photoquip initiated a unique photography project, along with ADAPT (Able Disable All People Together), which was set up in 1972 by a parent, Dr Mithu Alur. ADAPT combines education and treatment of children with special needs and learning problems under one roof, and has spread around the country. It has provided education, assessment, skills development, advocacy and training for the last 48 years.

The initiative involved making portraits of four incredible achievers—Malini Chib, Sam Taraporevala, Ketna Mehta and Satendra Singh—who overcame their respective disabilities to become champions for disability rights, for awareness, and as guiding beacons for all of society.
