BEFORE WRITING a kids’ baking book, Food Network star and former hometown boy DuffGoldman was working on a book about soup for HarperCollins Publishers. “I make a lot of soup and I’m really into it,” says Goldman, who lives in Los Angeles now. “I was writing recipes and I went to Hong Kong and was doing all of this soup research. When I sat down to start writing, I didn’t have anything to say. It was like, ‘Well, here’s this soup and it’s really good.’ So, I called Harper and was like, ‘I work with kids a lot. Why don’t I do a kids’ cookbook?’ They said, ‘Okay, if you think you can pull it off.’” Mission accomplished.
