It’s that time of year again...
when the leaves start to fall, the colors change to hints of orange, yellow, and red, and the hunter’s moon is among us. The long, hot days of summer have ended, and the most camouflaged best time of year is finally here! It’s what we hunters wait for from the last day of hunting season in January until the first day of bow season in October.
While for some, hunting season never ends because there are many different species that can be hunted year around. Most exotic species can be hunted year around, then you have the other hunting seasons in the Hill Country: dove season, turkey season, but the most awaited season is of course whitetail deer season.
Before the official start to deer hunting season is dove season which begins September 1, 2016 in the Central and North Zones of Texas and goes through November 6, 2016 in the Central zone and November 13, 2016 in the Northern Zone of Texas. Most of the Hill Country’s hunting falls within these two zones.
