YOUR DESIGN JOURNEY TILL NOW

I am the eternal student who wants to learn every day and find joy in discovery. My design journey would have been incomplete over the years without the amazing clients who gave me opportunities, the supportive colleagues, the hardworking studio and the many people that teach you at sites daily.

A MAJOR CHANGE IN DESIGN AESTHETIC OVER THE YEARS

I hope that I have grown over the years, learnt better balance in design, discovered new materials and methods of using them and acquired greater knowledge about subjects like art and design history.

DESIGN MOTTO YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE

We work on a lot of homes. When I am designing, I am aware that I have to walk in someone else’s shoes. Their space is not coloured by who I am but who they are. Second, each project is a new day. Try and bring something fresh to it.

Some super exciting homes of art collectors (Be still my beating heart!). Collaborations on homes with architects we admire hugely. Racing towards completing some homes that are nearly at the finishing line. Exciting times ahead!

YOUR DESIGN JOURNEY TILL NOW

I’ve had a long and eventful journey up to this point, and I know I have a long way to go still. I studied Art History at Duke University in the US and Oxford University in the UK and then I came back to work at my family’s fourth generation company. My family company, Essajees, specialises in high end furniture for projects across the globe, and I worked there for 5 years learning how some of the large design firms operate. I realised I was more interested in the designing of the entire space rather than individual items of furniture, so I went back to learn Interior Design at Rachna Sansad for 2 years. Its been 6 years since that, and about 40 projects later I think my journey is just about starting.

A MAJOR CHANGE IN DESIGN AESTHETIC OVER THE YEARS

I change with every project, not every year! Every project is different and we approach it with fresh eyes.
