Vibrant yet subdued, this bachelorette’s BTO flat combines energising colours with restful design elements for a perfectly balanced space
Time Out

1 Living area

Daring and colourful, the living area in this small HDB flat sets the tone for the rest of the home, introducing a lively space with lots of personality. The room is furnished with cosy armchairs from Commune, which the designer and homeowner sourced together, and further adorned with original artworks made of real moss. With the intention of creating a space reminiscent of a boutique hotel suite, a feature wall was custom-built out of oriented strand board, a sturdy material made of wood chunks layered in unique patterns. This combination of natural materials and rich hues makes for a quirky living room with a restful and organic vibe.

2 Corridor

While white paint helps to visually expand the narrow walkway, it is the small details that bring this space to life. Glazed porcelain tiles cover the floors of the corridor all the way from the living room to the kitchen, displaying a subdued yet playful pattern while being easy to maintain. A simple wooden ladder leans against the wall to form the highlight of the walkway, each of the steps housing a small plant for a greener, more welcoming home.
