HAVELI DHARAMPURA IS BACK TO ITS FORMER GLORY, AND HAS ALSO BAGGED THE UNESCO ASIA-PACIFIC AWARD FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE CONSERVATION 2017.
Delhi’s Chandni Chowk has always been regarded as a place steeped in history. There are many tales from the area that can hold an audience captive for hours and the witness to those tales are the buildings that have survived decades since they were built. One such building is Haveli Dharampura. From being in a dilapidated state to bagging the UNESCO 2017 ASIA-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation 2017, this haveli now has a story of its own to tell.
It was multi-faceted and dynamic minister, Vijay Goel and his son Siddhant Goel who undertook the Herculean task of restoring Haveli Dharampura. The father-son duo, along with chief architect behind the restoration process, Kapil Aggarwal, put in more than six years to bring the near-extinct building back to life.
