My Life In Stiches
Simply Knitting|September 2017

We catch up with Louise Walker, businesswoman, Netflix addict, Totoro fan and knitting superstar!

My Life In Stiches

Your dream knitting day would be… Hmm...it would probably be spent at home in my Totoro onesie watching terrible reality TV or Netflix. I’ve spent many a day knitting on the beach, but nothing beats a comfy day at home.

Happiest knitting memory? Finishing my first real project, a breakfast hat from a vintage Jackie magazine pattern. it was a beret with a full English, I wore it everywhere.

Favourite pattern? My favourite pattern that I’ve ever designed is my giant tiger rug from my book. However, the vintage Jackie breakfast hat pattern will always be special to me.

Most proud of… I’m really proud of winning the Etsy People’s Choice Award in 2016. I couldn’t believe the support I got. From winning it, my small business has changed so much.

Knitting inspirations? I try not to look at other knitters as I don’t want to be subconsciously influenced by them when designing my own work. I’m really inspired by kitsch ceramics and illustration. I do love following certain Instagrammers like Emily at @lostinknit, who has the most amazing crocheted wardrobe and Emma at @archeravenue has fabulous style.
