THIS COZY, HISTORIC HOME IN THE NETHERLANDS belonging to Mary and her husband is in for a white Christmas this year: nothing but Christmas decorations in calm shades of white, with pops of natural green colors. This palette creates an atmosphere throughout the house that makes you want to sit, relax and savor the season.

Ready to entertain guests for the holidays, Mary has laid the table in the sunroom with her mother’s blue-and-green fl oral-patterned dinnerware, which she only uses for special occasions. This color combination appears in several places throughout the house in old chinaware and earthenware items that have been collected over the years.

The white chandelier above the table has been strikingly adorned with long green eucalyptus branches, creating a wonderful contrast to the airy, white curtains in the big windows and across the ceiling. By sticking to a few simple colors, as Mary has done with her palette of white and green, you can achieve a lovely, calm holiday atmosphere.
