Enjoying plants and flowers in the garden is one thing, but what about enjoying what we have grown outdoors, in our homes? We talk to Helen from Ivy Lane Floral Design to find out more on clipping from your own garden and arranging beautiful bouquets to display in your home.
Flowers are like fashion, there are trends and styles that come and go, and at the minute the garden-look is very on trend in bouquets. The types of flowers I grow in my garden that work well as a cut arrangement are; roses, lillies, cosmos, delphinium, achillea, lady’s mantle, lilac, scabious, lupin, hydrangea, sunflowers, hypericum berries, astillbe, dahlia, peonies and seaholly. You don’t need to have them all but if you are planning ahead then pick and grow flowers in your garden that will complement each other when arranged in a vase later. Foliages I grow specifically to cut are eucalyptus (various varieties), laurel, holly, ruscus, ivy and pittosporum.
