Whilst Ireland boasts a vast array of accommodation for the traveller, very few can offer the charm, warmth and classic style that is to be found at The Knockranny House Hotel & Spa, Westport.
First sighting of the hotel’s impressive building comes as you turn off the main road from Castlebar to Westport town. The short hill climb to the hotel’s entrance reveals a modern construction that has been cleverly designed to reflect a bygone era and create a sense of grandeur.
Parking is plentiful and access to the reception area is made easier by way of a pathway for those requiring gentler arrivals rather than scaling the exterior porch steps.
The grandeur of the exterior is continued inside. The reception area is warm and welcoming with an open fire, pleasant décor and a reassuring sense of calm. The gentle background music, the glass chandeliers, lots of classic wood and a broad central staircase clad in deep blue carpet relay that this hotel is focused on elegance, serenity and relaxation.
Check-in was event free and unhurried, being greeted by friendly reception staff who were polite, professional and knowledgable of the local area. And even though the hotel was busy with guests arriving, it was pleasing to witness the patience offered to those with questions.
