It’s hardly off the beaten track, but as Shannon Kinnear discovers, a short break at Finn Lough Resort will transport you a million miles away from all of life’s stresses and strains allowing you to kick back and relax amongst the unspoilt natural surroundings.
A BIT OF BACKGROUND
Finn Lough Resort is the brainchild of Gillian Beare and her brother Michael Beare, who grew up here. Their parents had considered selling the land, something Gillian and Michael couldn’t bear to see happen, so they left their jobs in London and moved back to Northern Ireland to put their plans in action.
As Gillian explained to me, ‘With Finn Lough we want to target a new type of traveler, one who is adventurous and eco-conscious but who is also looking for luxury. Everything we have done and continue to do here is sensitive to the natural surroundings and is aimed at making the experience as personal as possible for those who come to stay.
‘We felt that the resort would really benefit from the addition of the bubble domes because they offer unique accommodation within the resort, and they are perfect for couples looking for something that little bit different for their romantic getaway as they enjoy the connection of the untouched, natural surroundings,‘ adds Gillian.
IN MY OWN BUBBLE
I couldn’t wait to experience a night under the stars and get to experience one of Finn Lough’s luxurious bubble domes. I have seen many pictures of these domes and I was so excited to get to stay in one.
The resort has 14 bubble domes set amongst secluded clearings and offers total privacy for those staying here. They are perfect for couples looking for a romantic night away amongst nature, but with all of the luxurious comforts afforded by a four-poster bed, underfloor heating and electric blankets!
