Experience Cape Town
Ireland's Homes Interiors & Living Magazine|April 2020
South Africa is a dynamic, vibrant destination that offers an unrivalled wealth of experiences, particularly in the rugged coastal city of Cape Town crowned by the magnificent Table Mountain.
Experience Cape Town

From the heights of Table Mountain to the dramatic stretches of coastline, Cape Town’s wonderful weather year-round (it has been named one of the top five Blue Sky Cities in the world) makes it a popular destination for beach lovers and wine aficionados alike. You will find that five days should be enough to cover all of the main sights of the city, including some retail therapy. However, for those wanting to take in a safari experience you might wish to allow yourself a full week.

As for when you should travel, the best times to visit are from March to May and from September to November as there tends to be better weather during these months, fewer crowds and lower prices.

THINGS TO SEE & DO

When in Cape Town some of the main sites you don’t want to miss include the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and Robben Island, which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to one of the city’s most visited museums. Don’t miss the new Zeitz MOCAA museum of contemporary African art in the Waterfront’s Silo district – book online to avoid the queues! Ride the cable car to the top of Table Mountain, take a tour of Stellenbosch Winelands to see some of the country’s most highly regarded vineyards, and head to the mountainous Cape Point with spectacular ocean views on all sides and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain.

Not for the faint-hearted, shark cage diving is one of the most popular activities among visitors to Cape Town, and there’s no doubt that this is the best way to appreciate the sheer beauty of these magnificent creatures.
