Our previous kitchen was over 30 years old,’ explains Catriona. ‘It was pine and had very little workspace and storage space. We decided to build on an extension so it was the ideal time to re-design the kitchen space.’
After looking at a few kitchen companies, Catriona and Kevin then visited O’Connors of Drumleck. ‘We went to see their showroom and fell in love with a similar style of kitchen. Working with their designer Peter, we came up with a kitchen layout which best suited our needs and we went through several drafts before making our final decision. O’Connors were the only kitchen company who could provide us with all the items on our wish list on time and within our budget.’
Catriona continues, ‘We knew that we wanted to use the kitchen as an entertainment area; it had to be user-friendly for kids and we wanted curved units and worktops with lots of storage which included the pantry and a large dresser unit to tie the dining area into the kitchen area. We also wanted the focal point to be the island and AGA cooker.’
