The Brick Story

The Brick Store designed by Vadodara based Modi Srivastava & Associates is a gallery-like experience centre for designers and developers to visit with their clients for an appropriate brick selection from an extensive collection.

The brick is a great storyteller. A social commentator and preserver of history, the brick has been ubiquitous to civilisation and fundamental to architecture. The anecdotes about the Indus Valley Civilisation’s 4000-year-old bricks being used by locals, and as ballast by the East India Railway Company in the 1850’s, are a testament to its strength and durability. The brick, with its mere appearance can describe its place of origin and composition. The variety in its origins and processing means a huge stash of options for a designer to choose from, so much so that it can get daunting. The Brick Store showcases the story of their bricks for the convenience of the consumer. “The brick store started when a young son joined his family’s 40-year-old brick company and contributed his research and technical skills in collaboration with a century-old European brick company,” say architects Hitesh Modi and Amit Srivastava, founders of Modi Srivastava & Associates.
