SCENT OF THE SEA “Living by the coast meant that I wanted the blues of the ocean, the white of the sand,” says homeowner Adriana of her beachside Perth home. She laid feature tiles from European Ceramics in lieu of a rug in the entry (opposite), where a print from Melbourne’s Warranbrooke reflects the warmth of the floorboards and bench from Empire Homewares. “I thought this was a creative way to integrate the overall style of the home, from when you first walk in,” says Adriana. In the landing (top left), a custom canvas from Kensington Reflections and pendant (for similar, try Beacon Lighting) also echo sand and sea. In the main bedroom (top right), a fresh posy delights the senses on a Globe West stool, while a display of tactile pieces enlivens the dining area (above left) and a lamp from Freedom is a scene-stealer in the living area (above right).
When interior designer Adriana embarked on building her dream home in a beachside suburb of Perth back in 2016, she knew exactly what she wanted. She was also no novice, having built her previous home in the city’s northern suburbs.
“That was a really good stepping stone to the building game,” says Adriana. “I enjoyed the process, and that’s when I thought, ‘I want to build again, I want to get the house that I want.’ As an interior designer, it’s hard to live with something someone else has created.”
