Her brand Differniture brings together the sculptural aspect of art with the functional sensibility of design into a sustainably created product
To wear the green tassel or not... that was the question that went through my mind a few weeks before I was to attend my graduation at Parsons school of Design, New York. The Green tassel that one could attach to your cap was offered to the entire graduating class only if they would uphold a pledge to integrate sustainability in whatever they chose to do in life henceforth. Something about taking that oath along gave me a sense of excitement about what the future held and how I was going to impact it in the years to come.
Fast forwarding six years and after having moved back to New Delhi, I now run a sustainably driven furniture brand called Differniture. The journey of sustainability in my work started off quite organically but it was something I felt I needed to do for myself.
