12/3 yards total assorted denim or old jeans

20 fat quarters assorted plaids or old plaid shirts

Scraps at least 9 x 10 each 8 assorted plaids

5/8 yard orange

Flannel backing to size

Batting to size*

Thread

Basic sewing tools and supplies

*Nature-Fil bamboo batting from Fairfield used to make sample.

PROJECT NOTES

Read all instructions before beginning this project.

Stitch right sides together using a 1/2 seam allowance unless otherwise specified. A wider seam allowance works better with the thickness of denim. Press all seams open to distribute the bulk.

Materials and cutting lists assume 40 of usable fabric width for yardage and 20 for fat quarters. WOF – width of fabric HST – half-square triangle QST – quarter-square triangle

CUTTING

From denim cut:

10 (5 x 9) A rectangles

10 (5 x 7) B rectangles

10 (6 x 11) C rectangles

10 (7 x 9) D rectangles

From each of 10 fat quarters or plaid shirts cut:

1 (9 x 11) E rectangle
