NDONI MCUNU is a PhD candidate in environmental science and the founder and CEO of registered nonprofit organisation, Black Women in Science (BWIS). This unstoppable force reflects on the beauty of inventing your own path

Fulfilling a long-held desire to pursue a career in science meant Ndoni had to nurture a love for subjects such as biology, science and mathematics in school. The powerhouse is now in academia, currently completing her Ph.D. at the Wits University Global Change Institute. “I’m passionate about farming, climate change and environmental science,” she says, and her goal is to assist farmers in being more resilient to the impacts of climate change, to improve food production and empower women in the science field through her NGO.
