Sanctuary in the city at Akasha Holistic Spa at Hotel Café Royal, London. By Feel Good You Editor, Lucy Gornall Within the hustle and bustle of London lies a true sanctuary of calm. The Akasha Spa offers a 60ft long-lap pool, sauna, jacuzzi and Hammam; a Turkish bath. This is on top of the indulgent spa treatments, which take place across nine luxury treatment rooms. London’s first Watsu pool (said to increase muscle relaxation, boost digestion and increase your range of motion) offers hydrotreatments and guided mediation.
I opted for the Traditional Indian Treatment (Relax and Balance Ayurveda), which uses warm oil and long, flowing massage movements to promote deep relaxation. It’s followed by a head massage and the pouring of warm oil on the ‘third eye’ (your intuition FYI). Verdict? Excellent. It’s 90 minutes of true bliss. I even fell asleep. Akasha provides a spacious gym, as well as a lounge bar with nutritionist, approved dishes, and energising drinks.
There are also four wellness expert treatments including WE Strengthen (60 minutes, £155). This uses supportive techniques on the back, face, neck and shoulders. It also includes movements to open the foot reflexes so you feel soothed and emotionally more resilient.
Day passes start from £95. This includes full access to Akasha Holistic Wellbeing including the swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and gym.
