WE haven’t yet given ourselves permission to turn on the heating, but the fire is lit in the evenings, the jumpers have been brought out and thoughts are turning towards hearty stews and soups.
We aren’t the only beings needing extra layers of warmth as winter closes in. Many of our garden plants do, too, in particular those of a more tender temperament that don’t take kindly to our winters.
