A global pandemic has reawakened Anna Hart and helped her discover a new lust for life.

If there is a collective lesson the entire world is learning right now, it is a crash course in appreciation. Those of us who are still permitted to walk or run on the beach luxuriate in it, squeezing sand between our toes, wringing out every last drop of this glorious sensation of freedom. If we have a garden, we glory in it, cherishing plants and basking in sun-kissed corners. If we own a pet, we lavish it with love and affection, even though, if this pet is a cat, our overtures have no discernible effect. If we own a bike, we leap astride it with gusto, marvelling at this glorious miracle of modern engineering. If we have a well-equipped kitchen, we dig out dusty appliances and utensils and dedicate ourselves to complicated, time-consuming recipes with fervour. And, above all, if we still have our health, and the health of our loved-ones, we feel like kings.
