Those of you who have been interested in jets for a while may recall a turbine-powered, slick-looking big model made by Tomahawk Models called the “Futura.” I first saw one about three years ago at a Florida Jets event. Although I favor scale models, I was taken by the stylish lines of the plane, and I thought, “Wouldn’t it be neat if a version were available to better match my skill level and wallet?” Well, FMS, well-known for its line of scale and sport electric jet models, apparently read my mind and introduced the Futura in an all molded foam version for the jet enthusiast. It was apparently so well received and it sold so well that FMS has tweaked the design, adding metal gears to the servos, new electrical connectors, and a new paint scheme with opaque canopy. The improved version is called the “Futura V2,” and it is the subject of this review.
