What are the recent Challenges you faced Post Covid-19 at the GMR Hyderabad International Airport?
COVID-19 has brought unprecedented challenges to the aviation sector in India. First time in the history of aviation, we witnessed the suspension of domestic and international air services for such a long period. However, we continued to operate even during the lock-down with minimal workforce handling both evacuation flights and essential cargo services. Once, the airport recommenced its services for domestic flights with effect from 25th May, the biggest challenge staring at us was building and restoring faith in passengers about air travel.
Once the pandemic set in, our business continuity plan was invoked and based on the developing regulatory and governmental advices, we mobilized our resources to keep the airport functioning without any compromise on safety and health aspects. As an airport community, we rose to the occasion to ensure that every action required to handle the services and operations was well coordinated and achieved as per the SOP and industry standards.
What are the safety measures initiated by GHIAL? Can you elaborate on the same?
Heightened hygiene standards became one of the key priorities of Hyderabad International Airport to bolster the restart of air travel amidst COVID-19. The focus was to safeguard the operations and restore passenger confidence. With disinfection solutions in place, the airport is consistently working towards delivering a safe screening experience, a clean public environment, and necessary protection for the workforce. Some of the key initiatives include the contact-less self-check-in kiosks, contact-less entry into airport, hygiene stations equipped with contact-less sanitizer dispensers, UV Sanitization Tunnel for ATRS (Automatic Tray Retrieval System), UV Ovens for safe shopping, digital touch-less mode of payments, touchless elevator, cab sanitization at the airport car park, plastic partition between the taxi driver and passengers for airport cabs, NETC (National Electronic Toll Collection) FASTag enabled contact-less airport car parking, among many others.
